Collector seeks Rs 339 cr to compensate farmers in distt

District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar has submitted a report to State Government seeking Rs 339 crore for paying compensation to farmers in district whose crops was damaged due to heavy rains. The Revenue Department panchnama related to losses suffered by farmers due to unprecedented rains in the last three months was completed as suggested by the Agriculture Minister.
The report till the end of August was signed and forwarded by the Collector. According to the joint survey conducted by Talathi, Agricultural Assistant, Gram Sevak at the village level regarding the heavy rains that occurred in the last three months, these figures have come forward. This year, 2,67,092 farmers have suffered losses due to heavy rains from June to August in district.
Crop in an area of 2,42,817 hectares in the district was damaged due to heavy rains. As per the new decision of the
Government, the limit of compensation has been increased. As such the proposal forwarded by Collectorate has sought Rs 339 crore compensation. The new Government has decided to provide substantial assistance in the matter of compensation.
According to the earlier government decision, assistance was given to those who lost up to 2 Ha. However, according to the revised Government decision of 22 August 2022, the limit of compensation has been increased to 3 Ha.
According to the new Government decision, for arable crops up to 3 hectares, the compensation payable would be Rs. 13,600 per hectare and for horticultural crops, up to 3 hectares, Rs. 27,000 per hectare, for perennial crops, 3 hectares Rs 36,000 per hectare.
Taluka-wise compensation has been suggested as follows in the report of officials from the taluka level. In this, Nagpur Rural- Rs 11 crores, Hingna- Rs 23 crores, Mauda- Rs 71 lakhs, Kamptee- Rs 10 crores, Katol- Rs 47 crores, Narkhed- Rs 42 crores, Saoner-Rs 36.90 crores, Kalmeshwar-Rs 30.79 crores, Ramtek- Rs 5 crores, Parasheoni- Rs 18 crores, Umred -Rs 35 crores, Bhiwapur- Rs 25 crores and Kuhi-Rs 31 crores is like this. In terms of damage the most affected areas are Katol, Narkhed, Kalmeshwar, Umred. District Collector is taking the follow-up on the proposal seeking compensation.
