CAIT estimates about 70 lakh weddings from Jan 15 to June 30

The trading community is hoping for a much better business prospects as the next phase of wedding season is beginning from January 15. It is interesting to note that there will be 53 auspicious dates for weddings during the season, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) estimated around 70 lakh wedding ceremonies all over the country. The all India traders’ body also estimated expenditure of Rs 13 lakh crore for these wedding ceremonies. It is estimated that in Delhi alone, more than 7 lakh weddings will be solemnised with an estimated expenditure of about Rs 1.25 lakh crore of rupees.
Last year during November - December, 32 lakh marriages were solemnised all over the country with an expenditure of RS 3.75 lakh crore. CAIT National President B C Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said
that in view of the good business prospects of the wedding season, traders across the country have made elaborate preparations.
Bhartia and Khandelwal also said that before the wedding season, a large amount of business happens in the repair of houses and paint of the houses. Apart from this, jewellery, sarees, lehenga-choli, furniture, readymade garments, clothes, footwear, wedding and greeting cards, dry fruits, sweets, fruits, worship items, grocery, food grains, decoration items, home decoration items, electrical utility, electronics and many gift items etc. are usually in demand and it is expected to do good business this year.
