BRIGHT orange coloured bats have been spotted in Kanger Valley National Park which is known for its wide biodiversity and many rare animals and birds can be spotted here. Among them, bright orange coloured bats have also been seen recently.
The scientific name of this bat is Carivola Picta. It is commonly seen in Bangladesh, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. So far in India it has been seen in
Western Ghats, Kerala, Maharashtra and Odisha. But now its presence has also been reported from Kanger Valley of Chhattisgarh.
Orange bats spotted The orange bats prefer to live in dry areas and roosting under banana leaves. These bats are an aerial hawker which means that they catch insects while flying in the air. At present, this bat has been spotted in the agricultural farm of Shakeel Rizvi in Parali Bodal village. In the year 2020, the orange bat was seen in the month of October and then it was seen again in November 2022. It is often observed at the time of maize harvesting
