I promise that I will leave no stone unturned to do what can be done for your welfare. We will end the outsource system in all urban bodies. The order in this connection will be issued soon. A committee will be constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Urban Development and Housing to consider the 18-point demand letter of the sanitation workers. The committee will consist of three representatives of the organisation. The committee will submit its report in a month. Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh was addressing the Madhya Pradesh Safai Kamgar Sammelan at Ravindra Bhawan in the state capital on Tuesday.
Minister Singh said that arrangements will be made to provide salaries to the Swachhata Mitras on time every month. The amount of octroi compensation of Bhopal Municipal Corporation will be released soon. Provision of compassionate appointment will also be considered. He said that all possible demands would be met. Salutations at the feet of sanitation workers: Urban Development and Housing Minister Singh said that the contribution of sanitation workers is invaluable. The work done by these workers during the Corona period was highly appreciable. I bow down at the feet of all of you. It is our responsibility and the State Government’s responsibility to look after your interests. He said that after Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have honoured Swachhata Mitras. Gandhiji had said that cleanliness is more important than freedom. After Gandhiji, it was Prime Minister Modi who gave so much importance to cleanliness and started the cleanliness mission, which has now become a campaign. In our culture too, cleanliness has been associated with Lakshmi. Contribution of Army and Swachhata Mitras important for the country: Urban Development and Housing Minister Singh said that the contribution of the Army and Swachhata Mitras is important for the country. Army is important for the country’s security and Swachhata Mitras are important for cleanliness. A jawan works for the country and not for salary, and in the same way, the Swachhata Mitras also works for the city. Their works are exemplary for the country and the society.
Minister Singh said that the amount of accident insurance for sanitation workers has been increased from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. By the year 2024, there is a target to start cleaning with machines in various cities. Machines will be made available to the cleanliness staff. This will facilitate their work.
Mayor Malti Rai said that the State is No-1 in cleanliness in the whole country only because of the sanitation workers. She said that cleaning will not be done on contract in Bhopal Municipal Corporation. Salaries will be given to the sanitation workers on time.. Rai said that you work even in the bitter cold, I understand your pain. State President of All India Safai Mazdoor Trade Union Magan Jhanjhot put forward various demands regarding the sanitation workers. He also handed over an 18-point demand letter to the Urban Development and Housing Minister. Other office-bearers of the organisation also expressed their views in the programme.
