Resolution

RESOLUTIONS are made with the hope of making lifestyle better. People try their best to follow those resolutions mostly taken during the new year. Does fulfilment of resolutions happen all year long? Does breaking and ignoring resolutions not happen? Are resolutions that are made never taken for granted?
Resolutions are solutions found by people for their problems. I remember one of my close friends Kashi Sharma, an entrepreneur. Two years ago, I was facing a miserable life. During those shady days, I had taken a resolution to make my life better and settle down. I minutely followed a list of activities to achieve merit. I had to go through a lot of problems and adverse circumstances but I decided to stay firm. My only resolution was to overcome challenges. Nothing stopped me from becoming a successful entrepreneur. She had a very focused mind. No matter what stopped her from proceeding, she continuously followed the resolution.
People take resolutions regardless of the upcoming difficulties. Resolutions that are achieved are a symbol of betterment. Resolutions followed sincerely nourish a feeling of attainment. A book on psychology has quoted ‘Change is a process and planning is the medium of that process. Achievement of resolutions shows the result and brings a change. Accept changes charmingly and build the desired life.’
Our planet is filled with inspiring as well as dull people. Lazy, uninterested in life, demoralising and apathetic people hardly even think of making a resolution. Before making a resolution, such people admit that they are deficient in the quality of pursuing it. My neighbour Nisha, 17, made a list of resolutions to be followed this year. She showed me the list and gave me a vulpine smile. Ten resolutions were included in her list. Getting up early in the morning, eating healthy food, junk food is prohibited, studying and revising every topic of the syllabus, practising science book diagrams, limiting the use of a mobile phone, chatting less, bunking the class was strictly prohibited, obeying granny’s instructions and the last resolution was written in bold and capital letters - never follow these resolutions. After reading it, I burst out laughing. Many people make resolutions to break it. Is making a resolution a playful act? Is breaking a resolution the new trend? Such questions remain unanswered, isn’t it? Whether to take resolutions seriously is a personal choice. No one can force one to follow resolutions.
On a TV show, the famous anchor woman was discussing about resolutions. She was reading mails sent by her fans about resolutions made by them. “I am going to take wise decisions in business and be truthful to my wife,” “I am going to quit smoking.” She was busy reading when a person from the audience asked, “What is your resolution this year?” She giggled and said, “Last year, the same question was asked but then my answer was different. This year, my resolution has changed totally. Until and unless I follow the resolutions taken in the previous year, I am not going to make new resolutions.” Everyone chuckled and appreciated her. How sincerely a resolution taken is followed depends on an individual’s choice.
