Biting cold continued to affect the normal life in Madhya Pradesh as maximum parts of State are freezing below ten degrees Celsius. While temperature in Nowgaon dipped to 0 degree, Datia (3.5 degree), Khajuraho (4.0) and Gwalior (4.4) recorded mercury below 5 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, Jabalpur and Narmadapuram divisions recorded drizzling in a few areas and remaining parts of State remained moisturised only. Guna and Chhatarpur recorded medium to dense fog. Datia, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Satna recorded light to medium fog. Sagar and Chattarpur recorded severe cold conditions and Datia witnessed cold day. It was frozen condition in Datia, Guna and Chattarpur. Minimum temperature declined in Shahdol division. Weather Department has forecast maximum and minimum temperature in Bhopal would be 22 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius on January 7.
State capital Bhopal recorded maximum temperature as 22.8 degrees Celsius and minimum temperature as 7.3 degrees Celsius. Top four cities of State recorded temperature as Gwalior 4.2 degrees Celsius, Bhopal 7.3 degrees Celsius, Indore 10.5 degrees Celsius and Jabalpur 7.3 degrees Celsius. Though it was sunshine in Bhopal on Friday but people were feeling extreme cold even in sun.
Weather Department said that there will be no respite from the biting cold conditions in State for next few
days. However, after January 7 night temperature may go up due to western disturbance. Leaving 7 districts, all the 45 districts of state recorded minimum temperature below 10 degrees Celsius.
Weather officials said that due to strong moisture in air coming from west, hailstorm was reported around Himalayan range. Due to this hailstorm, plain areas have moisturised air and cold conditions. Apart from Bhopal, dense fog was there in Raisen, Guna, Umaria, Damoh, Khajuraho, Jabalpur and Sagar. Visibility in these areas remained from 50 meter to 500 meter. Though it was sunshine after 10 am but cold waves were giving tough time to the denizens.
Maximum temperature in several districts went down by 3 degree Celsius.
Officials said that temperature will be declining on January 7 as the impact of cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal would clear by then and cold northerly winds will start blowing over the State.
According to Meteorology Department, weather would be changing in state in next 24 hours as there are chances of hail storm in Jabalpur, Bhopal and nearby areas. Officials of Meteorology department said that there are chances of rainfall in eastern part of MP and if there will be strong system, temperature will be declining by 3 to 4 points.
