THE Keshkal region was shaken by a disturbing incident of sexual assault on a minor girl, which came to light during the early hours, eliciting widespread anger among the community. The victim, a tribal girl, was targeted while on a morning walk with another girl. While the second girl managed to escape after facing harassment, the assailants succeeded in capturing and raping one of them.

 

According to available information, the distressing incident occurred in a village within the Keshkal area, where two minor girls, aged approximately 13-14, were out for a morning walk. Six individuals on two bikes approached them, initiating harassment that escalated into an attempted abduction. Despite one girl managing to break free and run away, the other was forcibly raped by one of the perpetrators. Following the assault, all the assailants fled the scene. Both minor girls involved are reported to be tribal. Upon reaching her home, the victim informed her family about the horrifying incident.

 

Subsequently, the family took immediate action by filing a formal complaint at the Keshkal police station. In response, the Keshkal police, acting under the directives of the Kondagaon Police Superintendent, assembled a dedicated team comprising the Keshkal SDOP, TI, and several other police personnel to launch a thorough investigation. Simultaneously, another police team arrived at the crime scene to conduct a comprehensive inquiry. The Keshkal SDOP has assured the public that the accused individuals will be apprehended promptly as part of the ongoing investigation. The community awaits justice for the heinous crime committed against the minor victim.
