“Traditionally we have a separate cell to take care of women legislators, their children during winter session of State Legislature in Nagpur. This time, we will be establishing Hirkani Cell to take care of women employees of all departments deployed during winter session. They come from various corners of Maharashtra,” stated Dr Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra State Legislative Council. She was interacting with mediapersons at the meeting hall at Vidhanbhavan at Nagpur on Tuesday. “There is an arrangement of health check-up of state legislators at Vidhan Bhavan, Ravi Bhavan and MLA hostel which we do regularly for state legislators. This facility will be extended to the employees also. This measure is being taken because the employees have to work harder during session and their health needs to be in good shape,” pointed out Dr Gorhe. More than 8,000 employees will manage the work and supplementary arrangements of the session on various fronts. Therefore, stress will be given on their health along with that of legislators.
A huge police force have come to Nagpur from all over Maharashtra who will be working on various fronts during the session. Every year, the question is raised about their food facility, which is always neglected. When this was brought to the notice of Dr Gorhe, she said, “We discussed this issue during our review meeting and I assure that this time the police will not suffer from the food issue.” Food and various soft drinks like orange juice are sold inside Vidhan Bhavan premises. This time all these will be properly checked by Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) department. This check will not be conducted one time but it will be done periodically, informed Dr Gorhe to the mediapersons. During this session people will witness some major security measures. For example, the entries to Ravi Bhavan, MLA Hostel, Nag Bhavan, Ramgiri, Deogiri, Vijaygarh will be done after strict security checks. “We are also planning to restrict the number of visitors entering above premises. We will finalise the number after our deliberations,” assured Dr Gorhe.
“Mock drill regarding the arrangement will be held on December 4. The officials have been asked to prepare the final report of the fire audit by December 5. Every year people of Nagpur face traffic inconvenience during winter session. This time they will not face so,” asserted Dr Gorhe. Earlier Dr Gorhe addressed a review meeting wherein Adv Rahul Narvekar, Speaker attended on-line. Vijayalaxmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner; Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector; Amitesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police; Dilip Nandanwar, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department; Janardan Bhanuse, Superintendent Engineer; Abhijit Kuchewar, Executive Engineer; Sanjay Upadhye, Deputy Engineer; Dr Abhijeet Chaudhary, Municipal Commissioner; Harsh Poddar, District Superintendent of Police (Rural) along with senior officers of various 22 departments were present.
