Irked over the statement of MPCC President Kamal Nath terming Madhya Pradesh as Madira Pradesh (state of liquor), a number of senior leaders and workers of Bharatiya Janata Party, on Thursday burnt Nath’s effigy at Malviya Square.
Speaking on the occasion, senior leaders said by uttering such derogatory words for the State, Kamal Nath has insulted the people of entire Madhya Pradesh. Similarly, the remark also shows his unhappiness against the decision taken by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to close all Ahatas in the State. BJP leaders said Kamal Nath has been the former Chief Minister of the State and making such a statement by a responsible person that Madhya Pradesh is Madira Pradesh is an insult to 8.50 crore people of Madhya Pradesh. He should tender unconditional apologize to the people of Madhya Pradesh.
Senior leaders further said on one hand where people of every section of the society, especially women have been appreciating the State Government’s decision to close all Ahatas, disallow liquor shops near public places like temples, colleges and schools, while on the other Congress leaders are opposition the great decision.
They said when BJP Government is taking decisions in public interest the formerChief Minister, in the desire to regain power is giving baseless and confusing statements. He has insulted the people of Madhya Pradesh by giving objectionable statement, hence he should tender apologize to the people. Those also present on the occasion were City President, Prabhat Sahu, Sadanand Godbole, Swati Godbole, Ratnesh Sonkar, Abhay Singh Thakur, Shrikant Sahu, Yogendra Singh, Yogesh Lokhande, Ravi Sahu and others.
