Madhya Pradesh is making progress by leaps and bounds in most of the sectors. Showing an upward trend in the economy’s growth rate with an estimated increase of 16 per cent this year, the Economic Survey report was tabled in the house. On the second day of the Budget Session in the Assembly, Finance Minister Jagdish Deora decoded Economic Survey Report 2023 in the house. Highlighting exponential growth in agriculture sector and health budget.
The report suggests, huge rise in per capita index at constant prices which has grown to 70 per cent in last ten years. From Rs 38,497 in 2011-12, it has reached Rs 65,023. With an increase of 5.6 per cent as compared to last year.
Determined to contribute significantly to the nation’s target of 5 trillion dollar economy, Madhya Pradesh has recorded 7.06 per cent increase to it’s Gross State Domestic Product in this report aiming to achieve target of 550 billion dollar economy. In last four years, State’s revenue collection has marked the progress with eight percent per annum. That of in 2022-23 is being anticipated to 13.32 percent, which has increased its share 9.81 per cent to central tax.
While in expenditure, there is 14 per cent hike from that of last year’s Rs 2,17,313 crore figure and estimated to rupees 2,47,715 crore for the year 2023. Continuing it’s tag of power surplus state. Which has been attributed to expansion in irrigation facilities in most of the parts of the State. There is record-breaking growth in the agriculture sector which has consolidated its position in country among the biggest and largest wheat producer states. Madhya Pradesh has produced 600 metric tones this year. State constitutes 46% share of the total wheat export from the country.
There is record increase in health budget as well. State’s health budget has increased from Rs 662 crore to more than Rs 10,400 crore. There has been an increase of more than 43,500 in the number of para medical staff as compared to 2003. In Madhya Pradesh, where till the year 2003, the energy capacity was only 5,173 MW, which has increased to 28,000 MW in the year 2022.
Between 2018-19 to 2021-2022, The State’s own revenue grew at a CAGR of 7.94 per cent, while its share at Central taxes grew by only 0.59 per cent. In 2022-23 (BE) the State’s own revenue growth rate stood at 13.32 per cent, while the share in central taxes grew by 9.81 per cent over the previous year.
