BJP leader shot over political rivalry in Luhari village, dies

Law and order was challenged in the city with the shootout of a man over political rivalry at Lohari village under the jurisdiction of Majholi police station while four persons sustained bullet injuries late night on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Sarpanch, Kanchan Yadav (58), a resident of Lohari village, while four others were injured.
The incident took place when Lohari Pancyayat Sarpanch, Rahul Yadav along with his father former Sarpanch Kanchan Yadav and some others were returning after Rang Panchmi programme and condolence meetings in a car.
On the way back, a group of miscreants stopped the car. According to reliable sources, they were identified as former Sarpanch, Sannad Chouhan along with Anand Singh Chouhan, Ayush, Sarvesh and ten others. The accused opened fire at the car. After several rounds of firing on car, the miscreants fired bullets in air and managed to escape from the spot. In the shoot-out, Kanchan Yadav succumbed to critical bullet injuries on the spot while four other sustained partial bullet injuries. Learning about the incident, police reached the spot and rushed the injured to hospital where Kanchan Yadav was declared brought dead while others were given primary treatment.
Additional SP (Rural), Shivesh Singh Baghel informed that Majholi police have registered a case under Section 302, 307 of IPC and Section 25/27 of Arms Act. Separate police teams are conducting rigorous searches at probable places and assured that police will soon apprehend the accused. He added that additional policemen have been deployed in Luhari village for avoiding further agitation in the area while senior officers are monitoring the law and order situation.
