NMC-JDSF swimathon gets good response

SWIMATHON, jointly hosted by Nagpur Municipal Corporation and JD Sports Foundation (JDSF) at NMC’s Swimming Pool, Vaishali Nagar under its Clean Playfield Project, received good response from the citizens. As many as 193 participants, from 7 to 67 years, registered for the event. Swimmers swam in relays for continuos three hours. The motto of this swimathon was to spread awareness about ‘Clean, Beautiful & Healthy Nagpur’.
Inauguration of the event was done at the hands of NMC Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi and Ex-MLA Dr Milind Mane. Dr Ambedkar College Vice-Principal Dr Arvind Joshi, Col Amod Chandana and Le Commander Deepkaran Singh of NCC, Chhatrapati Awardee Girish Gadge, Advocate Nalin Majethiya, Dr Sanjeevani Somkuwar, Assistant Commissioner Harish Raut, Ironman Dr Rajendra Jaiswal were present as guests for the event. Addressing the gathering, Joshi said that cleanliness and good health are directly connected. He added that by keeping surroundings clean and staying fit through sports activities, good health can be easily maintained.
Dr Jaiprakash Duble, President, JD Sports Foundation and former Sports Joint Director, Govt of Maharashtra made introductory remarks. At the concluding programme, former Guardian Minister and MLA Dr Nitin Raut congratulated the swimmers for helping in spreading message of cleanliness. Dronacharya Awardee Vijay Munishwar and Sudhir Abhyankar were prominently present. Chief Co-ordinator Jayant Duble looked after the technical arrangement for the successful conduct of the event. Dr Sambhaji Bhosle proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Dhyanesh Dhakulkar, Sushil Durugkar, Dr Aishwarya Duble, Prajakta Duble, Harshal Ambagade, Adv Archana Mendule, Ashish Adhao, Rahul Salame, RLSSI’s Garry and Sumit, Sanjeev Kumar Garje and Vilas Shende took efforts for making swimathon successful.
