Along with making various innovations in technology, Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has developed a multipurpose medicinal garden for the first time on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Nayagaon, Jabalpur with the aim of promoting and creating awareness about Ayurveda medicines.
After Covid-19, the importance of Ayurveda medicines has been restored in the society, understanding which it has been experimentally developed first in Jabalpur at SCADA Control Centre located in Nayagaon Jabalpur of MP Transco. Executive Engineer Dr Himanshu Srivastava succeeded in developing it by identifying a special place in the SCADA campus in collaboration with the Central Region National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH,
Government of India, SFRI Jabalpur. In this wonderful garden, the first of its kind in MP Transco, at present 28 such rare medicinal plants have been planted and developed, which are used in the treatment of various complex diseases. Rare medicinal plants include Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Hadjod, Apamarg, Bhringraj, Aloe vera, Bach, Punarnava, Lajwanti, Kaduchirayata, White Chitrakar, Shatabari, Badi Gudmar, Lavender, Patharchata, Rudrabhar, Aparajita, Gugal, Mint, Sarpagandha.
The leaves of lemongrass tree and palmrose grown in SCADA not only make delicious tea, but it is beneficial in diseases like cholesterol, arthritis, insomnia, digestion, cancer cells. The medicinal garden was inaugurated at the hands of Managing Director Sunil Tiwari in presence of all the department heads. The Managing Director gave a unique honour to the hard work of Rakesh Lakhera, the gardener who developed and maintained the garden.
