Sleuths of Lokayukta Police, Jabalpur trapped Chief Municipal Officer, Niwas Municipal Council in Mandla district and an employee while taking bribe of Rs 50,000 for releasing payment of Rs 1.97 lakh of a contractor at CMO Office, Niwas, on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Vikesh Kumhre, Chief Municipal Officer, Niwas Municipal Council in Mandla district.

Lokayukta DSP, Dilip Jharbade informed that an appellant named Jagmohan Singh (47), son of late Muralilal, resident of Maharajpur in Mandla district, lodged a complaint that he had submitted bills amounting to Rs 1.97 lakh for bore-well works. He several times contacted the CMO, Vikesh Kumar when he demanded bribe of Rs 50,000.

Acting on the complaint, SP, Lokayukta constituted a team and fielded the appellant for collecting evidences. Lokayukta team fielded the appellant for giving bribe money when CMO send his employee named Sandeep Dubey for collecting the money. Once the co-accused Sandeep Dubey took the bribe and kept the currency notes into pocket of his trouser, Lokayukta personnel trapped him. Arrested man disclosed
