Gandhe leaves for IPL duty

CITY’S noted BCCI umpire Ulhas Gandhe, who has been donning the hat in the popular Indian Premier League (IPL) for last four seasons, has left for Rajkot for this season’s assignment. Gandhe, a former Ranji Trophy player, has been appointed to officiate TATA IPL 23 as umpire. “I will be officiating five matches as on-field and three games as third umpire,” he informed before leaving Nagpur on Monday. IPL 2023 edition will be held from March 31, starting off with clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad at Narendra Modi Stadium. As many as 70 league matches will be played over 52 days. In teh past, Gandhe has also officiated in the UK in County Games during the exchange programme between BCCI and England and Wales Cricket Board. Gandhe thanked BCCI, VCA and his employer Accountant General Office (A&E), Maharashtra, Nagpur for their support.
