Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has announced the results of the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination and High School Certificate Examination conducted in 2023. Vidhi Bhosale, a student of Abhinav V M H S School Pussore Raigarh, secured the first rank in the 12th board exam by scoring 98.20%, while Rahul Yadav, a student of Swami Atmanand Government Utkrisht Hindi Medium School Jashpur, topped the 10th board exam by securing 98.83%.
In the 12th board exam, Vivek Agrawal, a student of Anunay Convent H S School Nawdha Chok Shakti Janjgir-Champa, secured the second position, and Ritesh Kumar, a student of Government H S School Purai Durg, came third. Sikandar Yadav, a student of Swami Atmanand Government Utkrisht English Medium School Jashpur, secured the second rank in the 10th board exam, while Pinky Yadav, a student of Government M L B Girls H S School Jashpur Nagar Jashur, and Suraj Painkra, a student of Swami Atmanand Government Utkrisht Hindi Medium School Jashpur, secured the third position.
Overall, 30 students, including 18 girls and 12 boys, secured top 10 positions in the 12th board exam, while 48 students, including 28 girls and 20 boys, secured their positions in the top 10 candidates in the 10th board exam. Girls in Chhattisgarh have once again demonstrated their academic excellence in both 10th and 12th board exams.
The School Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, in a press conference at the board office in Raipur on Wednesday, announced that a total of 3,37,569 students had enrolled in the 10th board exam. Out of those enrolled, 3,30,681 students (1,52,891 boys and 1,77,790 girls) appeared for the exam. The results of 3,30,055 students were declared. Out of those, 2,47,721 students passed the 10th board exam with a pass percentage of 75.05%, with 79.16% of girls and 70.26% of boys passing the exam.
1,09,903 students (33.30 percent) passed in first division while 1,19,901 (36.32 percent) passed in second division. 17,914 (5.43 percent) passed in third division. 3 candidates have passed in pass category. 17,923 candidates are eligible for supplementary exam. The results of a total of 626 candidates have been withheld due to various reasons, in which results of 16 candidates have been withheld due to cheating and application of 281 candidates have been canceled due to lack of eligibility and the results of 324 candidates are under scrutiny. Apart from this, the results of 5 candidates will be declared later. Compared to 2022, in the 10th board exam there has been an increase of about 0.82 percent in the examination results this year.
A total of 3,23,625 candidates appeared in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Main Examination this year. The number of boys who appeared was 1,43,919 while 1,79,706 girls appeared for the examination. Out of the total number of candidates who appeared, 3,23,266 candidates results were declared and the pass percentage being 79.96%. The results showed that girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 83.64%, while boys achieved a pass percentage of 75.36%. 87,140 candidates passed with the first division, 1,45,965 passed with second division, and 25,377 passed with third division. 18 candidates passed in the pass category. A total of 22,751 candidates are eligible for the supplementary exam.
A total of 359 candidates' results were withheld due to various reasons. Among them, 30 candidates have been caught copying, while 279 candidates' applications were canceled due to lack of eligibility. 43 candidates' results have been withheld for further scrutiny. The results of 7 candidates are expected to be announced later. The overall pass percentage in the 12th board exam this year has increased by 0.66 percent from last year, with a total of 79.30 percent of students passing. The exam was conducted in 2,418 examination centers, along with 29 coordination centers for the high school examination and 2,308 for the higher secondary examination. The Chhattisgarh Government School Education Department has also announced that 3,199 students in the 10th and 12th board exams have been given bonus marks in non-academic activities, with 1,286 students in the 10th board exam and 1,913 students in the 12th board exam being awarded these marks. Similarly, in the high school and higher secondary examinations, 1571 and 1643 students, respectively, have received bonus marks, totaling 3,214 students.
