Seven attackers, including three women, were arrested after vicious attack on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporator Chandrapal Dhangar at Muttpurena area. The frenzied mob assaulted the Corporator, while accusing him of stealing goats. BJP Corporator from Shaheed Brigadier Usman Ward Chandrapal Dhangar by a mob including women on Friday. The attack took place at the Corporator’s warehouse, from where he does the business of buying and selling goats.
Corporator’s son Abhishek Dhangar told ‘The Hitavada’ that some inebriated youths from the nearby Dewar Basti entered this warehouse accusing the corporator of goat theft, and then some youths also came inside behind them. First, they had an argument with the employees present there, and then they fatally attacked on the Corporator. His father suffered injuries in face and a fracture in shoulder bone. The real intention of the youths was robbing the place, Abhishek claimed. Three generations of Corporator Chandrapal Dhangar have been doing the business of buying and selling goats. He also has a shop at Bamleshwari Chowk in the area. The Corporator was present in his Warehouse on Friday morning, when some women from the nearby Dewar Basti reached. He asked the employees there to get the godown checked. The women alleged that 3-4 goats were stolen from their colony and kept here. After which they started arguing with the employees present there, then some other youths of the Dewar Basti reached, armed with bamboo, logs, digger, and spade.
Corporator Chandrapal Dhangar took refuge inside the warehouse, which the crowd found out. Chandrapal tried to convince them, but they did not agree. Meanwhile, the matter reached a scuffle and soon they attacked the Corporator. They started beating him with bamboos in their hands. The councilors ran inside the room to save their lives, when the mob also broke the door of the room with iron objects. Meanwhile, someone informed the Tikrapara police. The police who reached the spot handled the situation and controlled the crowd and saved the councilor’s life. Abhishek Dhangar, son of the injured corporator, alleges that some youths entered the warehouse with the intention of looting and murderous attack including women of Dewar Basti. They broke open the door and started fighting. Somehow the father saved his life by hiding in a room. Tikrapara Police Station House Officer informed that the FIR under Sections 294, 323, 147, 148, 149, 452 and 394 was registered on the complaint of the Corporator. Seven attackers including three women were arrested and produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court.
