Raipur Police have arrested four members of an interstate gang of chain snatchers. The gang was involved in at least three chain snatching incidents in the Raipur. First complaint was lodged by applicant, a Bilaspur-resident Anuj Agrawal at the Civil Line Police Station. The applicant had come to Raipur on May 12, 2023 in a four-wheeler for shopping with his mother and wife. After shopping at Shri Shivam shop located at Pandari Civil Line at 03.45 pm, the family was having snatch, when two unidentified persons aboard a motorbike CG-15-DK-9958 snatched gold chain off the neck of applicant’s mother and fled away. Second applicant Archana Kar had set out on foot from her house to get a tailor shop, that reached in front of Shriram Furniture near Santram Temple, that in front of the applicant, when two men on a two-wheeler from Mandi Gate side and snatched the gold chain worn by the applicant in one fell swoop and fled away. Third applicant Rajni Premchandani also filed a similar report. Snatchers targeted her at Katora Talab near Sindhi Dharmashala.

The Anti-Crime and Cyber Unit team started tracing the unknown accused by making detailed inquiries from the applicants regarding the incidents. Meanwhile, the team members received important information about the stay of the accused involved in the incident in a hotel located at Station Road, Ganj, on which the team members searched all the hotels/hotels located near Station Road, Ganj. The Team finally nabbed accused Guddu Kumar Yadav and Chandan Kumar Yadav were caught from a hotel located on Station Road. After catching both the accused and strictly interrogating them in connection with the incident, they along with their other 02 accomplices Pappu Yadav and Viru Kumar who were staying in another hotel located at Station Road, carried out the above incidents of chain snatching robbery. On which Pappu Yadav and Veeru Kumar involved in the incident were caught by the team members from another hotel.

On which all the four accused were arrested and action was taken against the accused by seizing 03 pieces of sane chain and 02 pieces of stolen two-wheeler worth about Rs. 2,50,000/- used in the incident. All the accused are basically residents of village Zurabganj police station Kodha, district Katihar Bihar and their gang name is Kodha, who roam around in stolen two-wheelers in different states across the country, robbing banks including chain snatching
