SARAIPALI,
Putka village in district Mahasamund was shattered by a heart-wrenching tragedy where a 24-year-old man was arrested for brutal murders of his own parents and grandmother. As per police, the horrifying sequence of events unfolded when Udit Bhoi arrived at the Singhoda Police Station at around 10 am on May 12 and reported that his father, Prabhat Bhoi (53), along with his wife Jharna Bhoi (47) and his mother Sulochana Bhoi (75), had left home on May 8th for treatment in Raipur but had not returned since. Following this, a missing report was filed and an intensive search was launched.
Meanwhile, Amit Kumar Bhoi, the younger son of the missing Prabhat Kumar Bhoi, an MBBS student at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in Raipur, returned home and saw scorch marks. His search continued, revealing crimson stains on the walls and evidence of a violent struggle in the bathroom and heap of ashes in a small pit nearby. Overwhelmed by the magnitude of the situation, Amit Kumar rushed to the Singhoda police station and informed them about the findings. Upon receiving this information, the police team swiftly reached Putka village and started investigation during which they came across bone fragments mingled with the ashes and blood splatters on the walls and in the bathroom. These evidences indicated suspicious demise of Prabhat Bhoi, Jharna Bai, and Sulochana Bai. With the news reaching to the higher authorities, a thorough investigation commenced under the guidance of Raipur Inspector General of Police Saikh Arif Hussain (IPS) and Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh (IPS). Additional Superintendent of Police Akash Rao and SDOP Mahasamund Abhishek Keshari spearheaded a dedicated team comprising officers from the Singhoda Police Station and Cyber Cell, to uncover the truth behind this heinous act of murder within the family. During investigation, it was learnt that the younger son, Amit Kumar Bhoi had dedicated himself to his medical studies, while the elder son, Udit Bhoi, had fallen into the clutches of drug addiction. Disputes over compassionate appointments and financial struggles had strained the family bonds. These clues made cops to doubt Udit Bhoi's involvement in the fateful event. Eventually, Udit Bhoi confessed to his heinous crimes. He revealed that on the fateful night of May 7th-8th he quietly crept into his parents' room. With a hockey stick clenched tightly in his hands, Udit unleashed a merciless and fatal assault upon his parents and grandmother, taking their lives with a single blow to their heads. The dead bodies were then callously disposed off in the bathroom of the badi. Two days later, on May 10th-11th, in an attempt to erase all traces of his heinous deeds, he resorted to burning the remains of his parents and grandmother. To further conceal his guilt, he meticulously cleaned the house, scrubbing away all evidences that could lead to exposure of his atrocious act.
However, his desperate attempts to fabricate a narrative fell apart under the scrutiny of the investigative team. Overwhelmed by guilt, he broke down and confessed, his voice trembling with a mix of remorse and sorrow. The police wasted no time in apprehending Udit Bhoi, the 24-year-old embodiment of betrayal. The hockey stick, the instrument of his unspeakable act, along with other incriminating items, were recovered from their hiding place within the walls of the house. Charged with the crimes of murder, Udit was placed under arrest under sections 302 and 201 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The news of the demise of Principal Prabhat Bhoi, his wife, and his mother has sent shockwaves through the town, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew them. Vice President of the Scheduled Castes Development Authority, as well as the local MLA Kismat Lal Nand, extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving Bhoi family, offering unwavering support during this darkest of hours.
