RMC Mayor announces stringent action against culprits in Unipole scam

Mayor Aijaz Dhebar on Thursday announced stringent action against the officials and employees of Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) found involved in the Unipole scam. A second investigative committee consisting of four-members has been formed in Mantralaya to ensure thorough investigation. In a press conference on Thursday, Mayor talked about the irregularities in the tender for unipole installed on dividers and smart toilets in the municipality.
In this conference, Dhebar discussed about tender related errors and violation of tender terms and conditions mentioned in respect of mini unipole mounted on dividers. After this, the Mayor has asked the officials and employees of the RMC to answer some important questions.
In this regard, the Mayor said, “We have investigated the irregularities in the tender of mini unipoles installed on dividers on the basis of BOT and Revenue Sharing model. Till the given time, we have received information in this regard, which is satisfactory.” Apart from this, there have also been reports of tender related errors and violation of tender terms and conditions in respect to two mini unipoles around smart toilets. Questions have been raised in this regard. The Mayor informed they have conducted investigation of the Tenders and demanded answers to some important questions from the officers and employees in this regard, that too is not satisfactory, said the Mayor. Mayor announced they are determined to take punitive action against such officers and employees who have indulged in such opacity and have contributed to the loss of such huge revenue to the RMC. The Mayor said, “We hope that the suspiciousness in this matter will be resolved quickly and strict action will be taken. We will also inform the government about this investigation, as they have also said.”
