HSC results out: Nagpur, Amravati divisions’ performance slumps

 THE Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) declared the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) results on Thursday. Girls have once again outclassed boys in Amravati Division with 94.83 pass percentage as compared to 90.94 percent boys clearing the examination. Meanwhile, at 92.75 percent, Amravati Division’s overall result dropped by a good 3.59 percent as compared to last year. Last year, it was placed third in State with 96.34 percent result. The examination was conducted in February-March this year. Total 1,38,564 students including 67,479 boys and 61,042 girls had appeared for the examination from Amravati of which 1,28,521 passed including 67,479 boys and 61,042 girl students. Konkan Division (96.01 percent) has topped the chart followed by Pune (93.34 percent) and Kolhapur (93.28 percent) followed by Amravati Division.
In Amravati Division, Washim district has given best performance with 95.45 pass percentage followed by Buldhana (93.69 percent), Akola (93.11 percent), Yavatmal (91.98 percent) while Amravati remained at the bottom of the table with 90.78percent result. Of the passed students, 14,015students have got more than 75 percent marks, 45,456 got marks between 60 and 75 percent, 53,985 between 45 percent and 60 percent and15,065 students scored between 35 to 45 percent marks. In the Division the pass percentage of Science faculty is 98.14 percent, Arts86.64 percent, Commerce -93.25 percent, MCVC- 85.10 percent and Technical Science -48 percent. The stream-wise number of successful students is Science -66,793, Arts- 45,018Commerce- 10,708, MCVC- 5,978 andTechnical Science- 24. In Science stream, 98.83 percent girl students succeeded as compared to 97.83percent boys; in Arts 90.54 percent girls passedas compared to 82.90 percent boys; inCommerce 95.67 percent girl passed as compared to 90.76 boys; in Vocational stream 88.65percent girls passed as compared to 83.96 percent boys and from theTechnical Science stream60 percent girl students passed as comparedto 46.66 percent boys. As far ass district-wise result goes, inWashim18,417 students out of the registered 18,598 hadappeared for the examination and 17,580passed; in Buldhana total 32,323 students outof the registered 32,509 appeared for the examination and 30,285 passed; in Akola, 24,036 students out of registered 24,155 appeared for theexamination and 22,382 passed, in Yavatmal 30,396 students out of registered 30,775appeared for the examination and 27,960 passedand in Amravati district, 33,392 students outof registered 33,732 appeared and of them30,314 succeeded in the examination.
Piyush Prashant Lahoti of Commerce Streamfrom Smt Kesharbai Lahoti College, Amravati and NishaTiwari also of Commerce Stream fromBrijlal Biyani Science College are the probablejoint topper from Amravati dist with 97 percent of marks respectively. From Science stream, Aniket Joshi from Brijlal Biyani Science College, Amravati is the probable topper from the dist with 96.83 percent of marks. Students who could not pass can get benefit of ATKT and they will get two chances. Passedstudents also have a chance for grade improvement, informedTejrao Kale, Incharge Secretaryof Amravati Divisional Board. Meanwhile, total 20 students were found tohave indulged in malpractice during the examination and therefore they are most likely tohave be punished with debarment from theexamination, he added.
