THE Maharashtra Government has taken a decision to
implement the amended Maharashtra Gunthewari Act
2021 in Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development
Authority (NMRDA). It will come into force from June 1,
2023. It was implemented by Nagpur Improvement Trust,
Nagpur Municipal Corporation, all Nagar Parishads and
even by Pune and Mumbai Metropolitan Authorities. It
was very surprising that Nagpur Metropolitan Region
Development Authority (NMRDA) was not implementing the amended Act. ‘The Hitavada’ has been raising
the issue since long.
Confirming the development, Avinash Katade Assistant
Commissioner, NMRDA said, “The Act would come into
effect from June 1.
The rates of regularisation will be similar to those implemented in other sectors.”
Dr Manojkumar
Suryavanshi, Commissioner
of NMRDA, made it clear,
“Our office, with all documentation ready, will implement the Act. We wanted to
ease the process for the people. Secondly, Devendra
Fadnavis was very keen for
its implementation since
long. He kept pushing the
issue. It will benefit thousands of people of this area.
The delay in implementation of the Act was due to
some matter were in the
court.”
Deputy Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis had
assured its implementation
in the meeting of District
Planning Committee.
When contacted, Fadnavis
told‘The Hitavada’,“I pressed
for getting the amended Act
implemented in NMRDA
because I wanted common
man should not suffer. Now,
citizens can heave a sigh of
relief. It was delayed because
I want everything be done in
a proper way.”
Non-implementation of
the Act was creating hurdles
in regularisation and sanctioning of building plan of the
properties bought and registered by many citizens.
Most people had started construction on the land without nod from the NMRDA.
There was no ordinance or
any special Government
Order exempting NMRDA
from implementing the
Gunthewari Act.
