Mountaineer Yashi Jain, a young and dynamic girl from Raigarh district, has edged the name of Chhattisgarh on Mount Everest, and Mount Lhotse, the world’s two highest mountain peaks, by hoisting tri-colour. Quite strikingly, the brave girl achieved this mountainous feat within 26 hours as she scaled the two top summits back-to-back on May 17th and 18th respectively.
A recipient of two top accolades from Chhattisgarh Government, Veerangana Puruskar and Shaheed Indira Gandhi Khel Puraskar, Yashi Jain was in Raipur Press Club, to share the feat with the local media. “Although I have been fascinated towards the adventure of mountaineering since my early days as child, I had my debut in 2016, when I was in class 12th,” delighted Yashi Jain, now a B Tech graduate, told the reporters. Sharing the momentous moments of her mountaineering feats, Yashi informed the presser that she has almost scaled all major summits across the world wherein she encountered her first major conquer on Mount Jogin-3 peak of Himalayan range in Uttarakhand, situated at the height of 6116 meter above the sea level, in 2018.
“Then it followed a frenzy of leaving no mountain peak unconquered, as in the following year 2019, turned my gaze towards the Europe’s famous Mount Elbrus summit at a height of 5642 meter and it was achieved, followed by Island Peak Mountain (6189 mtr) and Lobuche East Peak (6119 mtr), in January 2020 and 2021 respectively. Both the world-famous peaks are situated in Nepal. Hereafter, my next destination was to reach on the top of Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5896 mtr), which I accomplished on October 2, 2022. Hereafter, I also scaled the top of Mount Aconcagua (6961 meter), the highest peak of South America on February 14, 2023,” said a proud Yashi. A 24-year-old mountaineer Yashi said that she is truly thankful to the unending support and encouragement she was blessed with by her parents, particularly her father. In her own words, Yashi finds herself academically sound as well as equally active in extracurricular activities as she is recipient of NCC ‘C’ certificate and Best Cadet award. Yashi is also fairly good in sports, since she also got a gold medal in the state level rifle shooting championship in 2018. In her parting message to girls, Yashi Jain asked them not to be cowed down by any forms of weaknesses, but consistently driven and focused on the goals of life they see ahead of them.
