‘Airport Express’ bus facility has been started by the BCLL to make transportation easy for flyers of city. Airport Express started plying in the Bhopal from Monday. A total of 17 passengers travelled from Gandhi Nagar airport to Misrod in the morning trip. Two buses are being operated for the convenience of the passengers going to and from the airport. The bus will cover the distance in 1 hour 10 minutes. It will also stop at 12 stops in between. These buses will cover Hoshangabad Road, MP Nagar, New Market and Old City. The distance from the airport to Misrod is 30 kms.
The fare is around Rs 45. If the same journey is done by taxi, then about Rs 500 have to be paid by the passenger. Buses are being run through the bus operator Maa Associate. BCLL officials told that at present a total of 368 buses are plying on 23 routes in Bhopal. BCLL has made a new Route-106, on which two buses are being operated in the first phase.
Two buses will ply from the airport to Misrod, both the buses will make seven trips each in a day. The first bus from Misrod will start at 5.20 am, while at the airport it will start at 8.15 am. Buses are scheduled keeping in view the flights operations from Raja Bhoj Airport. The bus will reach the airport an hour-and-a-half before the flight takes off, while the bus will leave after the flight lands. Buses have been equipped with CCTV cameras and GPS system for live tracking. With this, information related to the movement of buses will be available through the Chalo mobile app. On the other hand, to provide cashless facility, mobile pass and monthly smart card for passengers through mobile app are available.
Smart ticketing through ETVM machines and reserved seats for women, disabled and senior citizens will be arranged inside the buses. The Airport Express running between Misrod-Raja Bhoj Airport will stop at 12 places. Starting from Misrod, it will reach Lalghati via Ashima Mall, RRL, Ganesh Mandir, Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, Board Office, PEB Square, Jaypee Hospital, New Market, Polytechnic Square, Kamla Park, VIP Road and then to the irport. The stops of buses plying between the airport and Misrod will also remain the same.
