City records 14.4 mm pre-monsoon rains

With 14.4 mm rainfall on Monday, Nagpur city witnessed the pre-monsoon rains for third day in a row. Due to cloudy weather in the afternoon, the maximum temperature came down to 39.0 degrees Celsius which had been over 40 over the past week. Nagpur recorded the lowest maximum temperature on Monday. The decrease in temperature has come as a relief for people of Nagpur.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted thunderstorm and lightning on Monday and it predicted that the temperature will remain below 40 degrees for a few more days. The moderate rains on Monday accompanied with thunderstorm and gusty winds uprooting trees at many places. Power cut was also observed at many places in the city. Due to rains, water logging restricted traffic movement for hours.
“East coast of India may face one low pressure disturbance in between May 29 to June 3. It may convert to cyclone. Due to that activity the South West Monsoon may hit Kerala coast little late on June 7,” claimed Astrometeorologist Dr Mukund Moholkar. According to Dr Mukund Moholkar, “Mumbai may get monsoon by June 13 and Vidarbha will get first monsoon rains on June 21.” Pre-monsoon showers may start in North India, Rajasthan, Gujrath, Madhya Pradesh, Central and Western Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Central India from May 27. Dr Moholkar claimed that the climate review was based on motion of planets and their angle made with respect to other planets and respective position and
place. Akola (42.7 degrees Celsius), Amravati (42.6 degrees Celsius), Gadchiroli (42.0 degrees Celsius), Wardha (42.0 degrees Celsius), and Washim (42.2 degrees Celsius) recorded the maximum temperature above 42 degrees. Other places like Buldhana (39.5 degrees Celsius), Bramhapuri (41.1 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (41.8 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (40.7 degrees Celsius) recorded the maximum temperature below 41 degrees. Due to moderate rains in Nagpur on Monday the minimum temperature also took a dip.
