IN a heart-wrenching incident three young boys drowned in river Narmada in block Rehti of district Sehore on Monday. On getting information about the incident, the police reached the spot. After this, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team was called on the spot to retrieve the dead bodies from the river. After a lot of effort, the bodies of the deceased were fished out. According to the information the incident took place in village Jahajpur where Sourabh Nagar (26), son of Santosh Nagar, resident of village Divatiya, Priyanshu Nagar (19), son of Pappu Nagar, a resident of village Obedullaganj and Harsh Nagar (19), resident of village Itaya Noorganj, went to take bath in the river Narmada. All the deceased are residents of District Raisen. It is said that they have come to one of their relatives in village Mathini and later they went to river Narmada in village Jahajpur to take bath.
Nearby villagers who reached the spot believe that these deep pits in the river were made due to sand mining and three youths lost their lives due to drowning in such pits. They also said that these pits are around 10 feet deep and if you see the river doesn’t have this much water only such 10 feet deep pits have water. And there is a possibility that due to this confusion these three young boys have drowned and have lost their lives. These villagers also helped the SDRF team in the rescue operation. Incharge of Salkanpur Choki under Rehti Thana, Kamlesh Chouhan with his team reached the spot and called SDRF for the rescue operation.
