It was not even 24 hours after the death of three youths due to drowning in the river Narmada that the news of three more girls drowning in the Narmada came on Tuesday. But it was a good thing that out of the three two girls were saved from drowning. News of people drowning in Villagers believe that the water level in the river is quite less these days then how do these accidents happen? The villagers believe that the reason behind such accidents is illegal sand mining. Sand miners dig huge and deep pits in the river to fetch out sand resulting in such pits which are not visible. When people go to bathe they think there is less water but as soon as they step forward they fall into deep pits made due to sand mining. According to the information there is great importance of bathing in Narmada river on the occasion of Ganga Dashmi. Due to this many families came to Avali ghat of the river to bathe on Tuesday. In those families there was a family from Raisen district.
Resident of village Maanpur Nandkishore Lodhi had come to Aavli ghat to take a holy dip in the river with his family. Soon three girls from the same family named Saloni (15), Simran (12) and Ragini (16) went into deep water and started drowning. Seeing all three drowning, there was a stir there. After this, Saloni and Ragini were saved with the help of people and the SDRF team, but Simran died due to drowning.
After the incident, all three were brought to the Rehti Community Health Center. From there Saloni was referred to Narmadapuram in a critical condition, while Ragini is said to be healthy. After getting the information of the incident, the team of Rehti Police Station reached Avali ghat and took charge of rescue operation.
