As the state-owned oil marketing companies on Thursday announced dilution in the price of commercial category liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, its price in the city came down to Rs 1948.50 per cylinder of 19 kg from its previous price of Rs 2032.5 per cylinder. The effective price cut is of Rs 84 per cylinder which will be applicable for the month June.
The commercial LPG cylinders are used by business establishments like hotels, restaurants, small eateries and tea stalls thus the price cut is expected to give big relief to such consumers. It is the third straight monthly reduction in the commercial category cylinders on softening international oil prices. It is important to note that the last reductions have brought down the price of the commercial category by about Rs 350 per cylinder. The oil marketing companies
have been diluting the price since March. On the other hand, the price of domestic category LPG witnessed no change for the month of June. The last change was announced on March 1, when the companies hiked the rates by Rs 50 per cylinder (14.2 kg). In Nagpur city, the domestic category cylinder will be available at its previous price of Rs 1154.50.
All the State-owned companies including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revised the prices on the 1st of every month based on the average international price in the previous month. In addition to LPG, the oil marketing companies(OMCs) were supposed to revise the prices of petrol and diesel too. However, petrol and diesel prices continued to remain unchanged for a record 14th month in a row. Petrol costs Rs 106.05 per litre in the city and diesel comes for 92.60 per litre.
