MONO T O N Y mars the mirth andmerriment of life, charge changesthesad and solitary life into charming andcheerfulone.Musicashobby has a magnificent and magical effect on one’s body, mind, intellectandsoul,itisaptlysaid by Danies – “What is this life if full of care, There is no time to stand and stare!” Music is the finest art, a simple and ever refreshing hobby. Music has many magical powers. It is no wonder, that music can change pain into pleasure. Music has moral values also. It canchangeevilintogood.Most of our classical songs are religious.Asalampilluminatesthe surroundingarea,musichasits sweet effect all around. Amidst hustle and bustle of modern life, it is essential to carve-out time for self-care and reflection.Inhaste,wearesavingsecondsandlosinglives.Manysuccessful Individuals prioritize ‘Me-Time’ as a non-negotiable part of theirroutine,whether it is through journaling, meditation, indulging in a favourite hobby as music, writing,reading,drawingetc,spendingtime in nature to foster inner peace and balance, same is emphasised by spiritual leader Sadguru, too. Inrat-race of life, your notion is you have to be what others want,andothershavetobewhat you want.Just be yourself, each and every Individual is just unique; So get immersed in the hobby you love and experience bliss and ecstatic pleasure (‘Sukoon’).
 
In pursuit of happiness,weare dumping moder n gadgetsandgizmosinourhomes but fail to understand that happinessisastateofmind,andnot connected with the materials; which may give comfort at the most.Thereare 3types of needs in life – First basicneed as food, cloth,shelter,Second–comforts and Third luxurious and lavish life.Why should we hanker and chase the third type? Of course technological and scientific advancement is necessary but it should not enslave us. Great poet Milton truly says – “Mind initsownplace,Canmakeahell of heaven.And aheaven of hell.” A man becomes ill because his mind is not still. Mind is alwayswanderingwithloadsof thoughts, disturbing with continuous ripples, only in silent waterslinagesareseenenabling us to think in clear and rational terms.Inone charitable hospital at Kolkata, there is displayed a very touching quote – “If you can bring peace in the cells,You are cured!” Music works to this end, giving soothing soulful, heartening effect on mind. While there are v a r i o u s methods ofdisciplininganddirectingthe mind(NotControlling)as‘Japa’ ‘Pranayam’, just witnessing the thoughts on thescreen of mind letting them go without entertaining, nurturing, only concentrating on breath called meditation, is given the same effect by music. Music is also recognized as a therapy in treating patients, also proved scientifically that milch animals give more milk, trees grow fast.
 
Music releases happy hormones in human body called Dopamine which refreshes invigorates, rejuvenates, tranquilizes the mind, whichotherwisegoesastrayand playshavocifnotdealtwiththe manner as above. In the universe, there is rhythm and music in Nature, Stars, Sun, Moon, Darkness, Silence, rippling river, breezes thatlulltheleavesoftrees,chirping of birds, ringing bells, dangling around the neck of animals returning homes in the evening eagerly dusting off stress in villages, rains quenching thirsty Mother Earth, lightning in the sky etc. Mind your mind with three ‘Ms’ in life – Moderation, Meditation and Music to keep fourth ‘M’ – Medicine as bay. Researchershavediscovered thatengaginginmusicthroughout your life is linked with better brain health in older adults, a new study has said. The findings have revealed that playing a musical instrument such as pianocanimprovememoryand executive function, a skill that helps you solve complex problems.The study also suggested that singing is also connected to better brain health. Being musical can be a way of harnessing the brain’s agility and resilience. Toconclude,wecancultivate habits that nurture our wellbeing leading to lasting personal growth and fulfillment.
