As many as 4,800 taxpayers deposited Rs 1.71 crore as various taxes in the coffers of the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Thursday. JMC administration has extended gratitude to these taxpayers, however it issued 3-day notice to 750 taxpayers and asked them to deposit outstanding dues within the time frame or else get ready for strnigent actions. It may be noted that Municipal Commissioner, Preeti Yadav is reviewing the revenue collection campaign continuously with the aim of strengthening the financial position of the JMC and increasing revenue as per the targets. She is also providing instructions to the revenue department.
 
Under her guidance, Deputy Commissioner P N Sankhere and the revenue team are actively engaging in collecting pending dues from taxpayers. Under the series they on Thursday, they issued notices to 750 major defaulters, giving them a three-day deadline. Officials said if the outstanding amount is not deposited by the taxpayers within three days, action will be taken against them, including seizing their properties, freezing bank accounts etc. Sankhere informed that on Thursday 4,800 taxpayers have deposited a Rs 1.71 crore in the JMC’s treasury. Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner Yadav has appealed to the taxpayers to deposit dues before March 31 to avoid unfavorable actions by the municipal corporation and to contribute to the development of JMC. She said the amount will be doubled from April 1 and relief will not be available even in the upcoming Lok Adalats.
