With 39.2 degrees Celsius, Nagpur witnessed the hottest day of the season on the first day of the festival of colours on Sunday. The maximum temperature in Vidarbha is increasing daily as the scorching heat is raising discomfort for everyone. India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the day and night temperatures will increase further in the region as the dry spell will prevail for the remaining days of March. Nagpur, which witnessed the rains and thunderstorm in last week, is experiencing scorching heat since last couple of days.
 
Meanwhile, Akola was the second hottest place in Maharashtra with 40.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday after Malegaon (40.8 degrees Celsius). Yavatmal (40.2 degrees Celsius), Bramhapuri (40.0 degrees Celsius), and Solapur (40.0 degrees Celsius) also recorded the maximum temperature above 40 degrees mark on Sunday in Maharashtra. Whereas, Wardha was the third hottest place in Vidarbha with 39.9 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature of Amravati was 39.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Gadchiroli recorded the lowest maximum temperature with 36.6 degrees Celsius.
 
The minimum temperature was also on the rise all over Vidarbha as Buldhana (22.6 degrees Celsius), Bramhapuri (22.6 degrees Celsius), Amravati (22.5 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (22.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the minimum temperature above 22 degrees which was the hottest night temperature so far. Washim recorded 18.8 degrees Celsius, which was the lowest minimum temperature followed by Nagpur (19.4 degrees Celsius). All other places of Vidarbha recorded the minimum temperature above 20 degrees. With increasing temperature, citizens have started using coolers and Air Conditioners in their residence, offices and shops to beat the summer heat.
