People of Nagpur felt scorching summer heat on Thursday as the city’s maximum temperature soared to 40.2 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature of the season so far. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that dry weather will increase the maximum and minimum temperatures in coming days all over Vidarbha. Vidarbha saw a steady rise in temperature in the past few days. According to IMD, the maximum temperature will increase in the coming month.
 
On Thursday, Akola and Washim recorded the highest maximum temperature in the State at 42.6 degrees Celsius each. Vidarbha’s Amravati and Parbhani of Marathwada region were the second hottest places in Maharashtra at 41.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Bramhapuri (41.0 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (41.2 degrees Celsius), Wardha (41.5 degrees Celsius), and Yavatmal (41.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the day temperature above 41 degrees mark. Gadchiroli (38.6 degrees Celsius) and Gondia (39.5 degrees Celsius) recorded the maximum temperature below 40 degrees.
 
Akola also recorded the hottest night on Thursday as the district witnessed 26.0 degrees Celsius minimum temperature. Amravati (24.3 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (24.6 degrees Celsius), Wardha (24.4 degrees Celsius), Washim (24.4 degrees Celsius) and Yavatmal (24.0 degrees Celsius) were above 24 degrees. The minimum temperature of Nagpur was 22.4 degrees Celsius which was 1 degree above normal.
