Four teenagers have been charged with kidnapping after attempting a kidnapping prank to post videos on social media. Among them, two have appeared their Standard XII examinations recently, while the other two were attempting NEET exam again. According to Rana Pratap Nagar Police, Aadesh (17), a resident of Chandrapur district, was residing in a rented accommodation in the Gopal Nagar area of Nagpur with his friend Yash while preparing for the JEE exam for the past one year. Aadesh is a student of Standard 11 at a tuition class in Vidya Vihar, Pratap Nagar Square for JEE. On Monday at 6.45 am, Aadesh, along with his friends Yash and Vedant, were walking towards their classes when a white Hyundai Elantra with tinted windshields (MH-40/6144) pulled up behind them near the SOS School lane in Pratap Nagar.

Three young boys disembarked from the car and forced Aadesh inside the vehicle despite his resistance. Alerted by Aadesh’s friends, the boys fled the scene in their car. Shocked by the incident, Aadesh reported it to his teacher at the tuition class, who promptly accompanied him to the police station to lodge a complaint, the officials said. Taking the incident seriously, the Pratap Nagar Police registered a case under Sections 363, 511, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and initiated an investigation. Through CCTV footage, the police identified one of the culprits as Yash (18) (name changed) and detained him. Based on Yash’s information, the police also detained three other boys, all aged 18 years.

During interrogation, the police corroborated the statements of the four teenagers and concluded that they were attempting to create a prank video for social media. Police officials were surprised by the revelation, as the youths had undertaken such an activity without considering the legal ramifications, a police official exclaimed. The parents of the teenagers were called to the police station and were shocked to learn about their children’s actions. Additionally, it was discovered that Yash did not possess a driver’s license for the Hyundai Elantra. The parents pleaded for leniency from the police, and the teenagers assured the police that they would refrain from such actions in the future. Finally, the police released the teenagers with a warning notice.
