SHAUNAK Badole emerged champion of the Nagpur District 89th Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar on Sunday. In all 33 players including 18 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total six rounds were played. A total cash prizes of Rs 5,000 was distributed among top 10 players of the
tournament.
 
On the top board match of the sixth round, playing with white pieces, Badole defeated last week’s winner Krupal Wanjari for his sixth win in a row. On second board, Shaurya Dhawangale, playing with black pieces, got the better of Amol Ramteke. Omprakash Soni, also playing black, was successful in registering victory against Chandrashekhar Sable on the third board. On board number four Atharv Tawri defeated Pramod Ramteke to enter top ten. As many as three players — Sanjay Bhange, Aditya Kamlapurkar and Sthaanu Pal ended in top ten with four points each.
