Dogs attacked and killed a leopard cub in the forest of Chhitapar village in Bandol Forest Range of Seoni, on Tuesday. Locals informed the Forest Department about the incident. After this, the Forest staff reached the spot. Panchnama of the leopard cub was done and the body was sent for post-mortem. People of Chhitapar said that in the morning a shepherd who was grazing cattle saw that some dogs were attacking a leopard cub near the field of Bhura Chandravanshi. The leopard cub had climbed a tree to escape from the dogs. While jumping from one tree to another, he fell into the thorny bushes. After this, the dogs attacked the cub. The village people and forest workers present at the spot drove away the dogs and took the leopard cub out of the bushes. But by then the cub had succumbed to serious injuries.
 
The forest staff sent the body for post-mortem. It is being said that another leopard cub was also seen near the forest.
Due to presence of cubs, it is being said that the female leopard may also be present in the forest. Forest staff are searching in the area. The villagers have been asked to stay alert. In the case, Forest Conservator S S Udde said that the leopard cub died due to dog attack. Body of the cub has been sent for postmortem. The age of the dead cub is one and a half to 2 months. In view of the possibility of presence of a female leopard in this area, a search is being conducted. The people of the village have also been advised to remain alert.
