Unseasonal showers and hailstorm pounded the State capital Bhopal on Wednesday afternoon, triggering power cuts in many areas. Strong wind around 60 kmph of speed and lightening accompanied the thunderstorm. It started raining with extreme dark outside around 3 pm and lasted till late night in different areas, increasing in intensity. Bikers and pedestrians scampered for cover as hail caught them by surprise. Apart from Bhopal, Shajapur, Ujjain and a few other districts also recorded small sized hail. According to Weather Department, 21 districts recorded rainfall on April 10. Heavy rainfall was received in Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, Agar, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Pachmarhi, Chhindwara, Seoni and nearby areas. Wind blew for 60 kmph in most of areas. The day temperature dropped by few notches and rain, hail damaged the ready to harvest crops in several districts of Madhya Pradesh. In Bhopal, hail storm was recorded in old city, Karond, Govindpura, and few other areas. Meteorology officials have issued warning for thunder, lightning and strong winds along with rain and hail in many districts till April 13.
 
According to Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Bhopal on April 11, light rainfall is expected in Berasiya, Hoshangabad Road, Raisen Road and Karond. On April 12, dark clouds and light rain is forecast while for April 13, lightning and droplets are forecast. Weather Department said that it is all effect of cyclonic circulation, trough line and western disturbance in Bhopal. Rainfall for past three days gave quite relief to the citizens from scorching heat and day-night temperature has declined. While day temperature dipped down by three to four degrees Celsius, night temperature also recorded a fall by two degrees Celsius. Weather scientists said that moisture is coming from Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. IMD has also released Red, Orange and Yellow alert in various parts of state. Dr Ved Prakash, IMD Bhopal, said that cyclonic air is becoming more active and apart from this, another western disturbance is active in Northern part of country. He said on April 10, cyclonic circulation will be stronger and southern part of Madhya Pradesh will be most effective with this system.
 
IMD said, after the current weather system pass away, summer would be coming to its peak with temperature soaring above 40 to 42 degree Celsius. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 35.8. degrees Celsius, which was at the normal mark while night temperature in the city was 22.6 degrees Celsius, a degree more than normal mark. Maximum temperature over most places in State remained under the 40 degrees mark. Gwalior recorded maximum temperature 38.6 degrees Celsius and minimum 19.6 degrees Celsius. Indore recorded maximum temperature 37.1 degrees Celsius and minimum 23.7 degrees Celsius. Ujjain recorded maximum temperature 38.0 degrees Celsius and minimum 20.8 degrees Celsius. Jabalpur recorded maximum temperature 31.8 degrees Celsius and minimum 20.6 degrees Celsius.
