With maximum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius and minimum of 19.0 degrees Celsius on Thursday, it was the coolest summer day since 1969 in Nagpur, claims a data provided by Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC). It is the second consecutive year when Nagpur city witnessed such low maximum and minimum temperatures during summer. Last year, on April 30, city witnessed the maximum temperature 25.9 degrees Celsius while the minimum was 19.2 degrees Celsius recorded on April 8 in 2023. According to Meteorologists, the current weather activities are a normal phenomena that mainly takes place during February and March. However, this year the activities were extended till April, due to which April became the coolest April since 1969. April is a month with consistently rising daytime temperature and falling humidity and surface pressure. Majority of times, dry, westerly or northwesterly winds cause human discomfort in the afternoon by becoming moderate to strong. Whereas, this year, whole Vidarbha region, including Nagpur, is witnessing cloudy weather along with light to moderate rains, thunderstorm, hailstorm, lightning with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) due to presence of cyclonic circulation over Central India.
 
Apart from Nagpur, some other parts of Vidarbha including Bramhapuri (28.7 degrees Celsius), Gadchiroli (28.0 degrees Celsius), Gondia (28.8 degrees Celsius), and Wardha (29.0 degrees Celsius) witnessed the maximum temperature below 30 degrees mark on Thursday. Nagpur which recorded the maximum temperature 25.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday was 14.6 degrees Celsius below normal and 9 degrees Celsius dip in just 24 hours. Similarly, Bramhapuri witnessed a huge 11.8 degrees Celsius below normal and 9.5 degrees dip in last 24 hours. Wardha witnessed a dip of 12.1 degrees Celsius below normal and the district recorded 6.8 degrees Celsius reduction in maximum in just 24 hours. Gondia also recorded 11.5 degrees Celsius below normal on Thursday with 6.6 degrees dip in just 24 hours.

Normally, April is a dry month but this year unique phenomena took place so far as the humidity level in Nagpur on Thursday was recorded 96% along with Gondia (96%). Yavatmal (95%), Wardha (94%), Amravati (88%), Bramhapuri (79%), Chandrapur (78%), Gondia (75%), Akola (70%), Buldhana (68%) and Washim (67%). Due to moderate rains in last 24 hours the weather became cool in all over Viidarbha and Nagpur witnessed the highest 19.7 mm rainfall in last 24 hours followed by Gondia (18.4 mm), Wardha (11.8 mm), Akola (2.1 mm), Amravati (2.2 mm), Chandrapur (2.8 mm), Gadchiroli (2 mm), and Yavatmal (2 mm). Now, as the clouds are expected to clear in next three to four days, the temperature may rise. Meanwhile, the dreaded Nagpur summer will again witness on polling day on April 19 as the weather department is expecting the maximum temperature in Nagpur will touch 42 degrees Celsius on polling day.
