In a rare occurrence, a tiger was spotted in the Baranwapara forest of Balodabazar district, triggering heightened concerns for both public safety and wildlife conservation. Responding swiftly to the sighting, the district administration, in collaboration with the Forest Department, has imposed Section 144 in seven villages surrounding the Baranwapara Sanctuary. District Collector K L Chauhan took proactive measures by imposing Section 144 in the villages of Ravan, Mohda, Kauabahra, Murumdih, Chhataldabra, Gajradih, and Daldali. The imposition of Section 144 entails restrictions on public gatherings and prohibits the use of loudspeakers in these areas. These precautionary measures aim to mitigate potential risks arising from the presence of the tiger in the vicinity. The Forest Department has emphasised the importance of maintaining a safe distance from the tiger to prevent agitation, which could lead to the animal venturing into residential areas.

Recognising the need to safeguard both human lives and the tiger’s habitat, the imposition of Section 144 serves as a proactive step to ensure public safety and wildlife conservation. The sighting of the tiger, initially observed by teacher Kanshiram Patel on March 7 in Baranwapara Sanctuary Sirpur Road, prompted immediate action from the forest department. Continuous monitoring and precautionary measures have been undertaken to ensure the well-being of the tiger and prevent potential human-wildlife conflicts. As part of the safety measures, villagers have been instructed to refrain from entering the forests without prior permission from the forest department. By restricting large gatherings and implementing measures to minimise human interference in the tiger’s habitat, authorities aim to create a conducive environment for both wildlife and local communities.
