The third day of grand Pustak Mela was marked by the visit of Divisional Commissioner Abhay Verma, IG Jabalpur Zone, Anil Kumar Kushwaha and Collector Deepak Saxena who visited the venue to conduct inspection on Friday. Divisional Commissioner Verma appreciated the efforts made by Collector Saxena for organising Pustak Mela where guardians can purchase note-books, text-books and other study material from the same venue. He also interacted with book sellers, children and guardians. He also applauded activities of voter’s awareness being organised at the Mela venue by District SVEEP Cell. IG Kushwaha expressed his opinion on relevance of Pustak Mela. Commissioner Verma also clicked a few photos at the selfie stand installed by SVEEP Cell of District Election Office. Students of Chanchal Bai College presented a street play appealing voters to participate in the biggest festival of democracy on April 19 and cast their votes without coming under any influence and greed.

District SVEEP Coordinator Dr Pramod Shrivastava explained to Commissioner Verma about different activities being organised under SVEEP Cell to create voters’ awareness. Verma further awarded the students and other artists who participated in the voters’ awareness activities at the venue and also administered oath to the citizens to use their franchise to ensure a better future for the country. To break the monopoly of private schools and book sellers, the district administration has organised a five-day Pustak Mela at Shaheed Smarak Gol Bazar. Parents and guardians are deeply applauded this initiative of the district administration. Children and guardians are getting special discounts on books and other materials in the fair which is first of it’s kind in the State.
