Gazette notifications for submission of nominations in seven Lok Sabha constituencies of Chhattisgarh have been issued on Friday. Nominations for Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Korba and Surguja Lok Sabha seats have begun on Friday. Bahujan Samaj Party candidate from Janjgir-Champa Lok Sabha seat Rohit Dahariya has filed his nomination at Janjgir-Champa on the first day of the nomination, on Friday. Former MLA Indu Banjare, Dujram Baudha and others were present. As per the information received from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Chhattisgarh, the notifications have been issued for submission of nomination by the seven returning officers on Friday.
 
Addressing a press conference here, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Chhattisgarh Rupesh Verma said that three nominations were filed for seven Lok Sabha seats of Chhattisgarh under the third phase on the first day of the nomination, on Friday. One nomination was filed in Korba Lok Sabha seat, one each in Durg and Janjgir-Champa Lok Sabh seats on the first day of the nomination. Last date for submission of nominations is April 19. Date for scrutiny of nominations is April 20. Last date for the withdrawal of candidature is April 22. Polling will be held on May 7. Counting of votes will be held on June 4.
 
Under the third phase, the gazette notifications for 94 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) across 12 States/UTs going for polls in the General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024 have been issued today. Separately, notification for the adjourned poll in 29-Betul (ST) PC of Madhya Pradesh has been also issued. Election for 29-Betul (ST) PC of Madhya Pradesh which was to be held in 2nd Phase was adjourned due to the death of a contesting candidate of Bahujan Samaj Party. The States/UTs included in Phase 3 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
