Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari expressed deep concerns over the unseasonal rainfall affecting the State’s farmers. Heavy winds, accompanied by rainfall, were reported in Bhopal, Indore, Dewas, Ujjian, Ratlam, and Guna. Some districts even reported hailstorms. Rain has exacerbated problems in districts like Raisen, Vidisha, Umaria, Narmadapuram, Harda, and Khargone. Patwari highlighted that the State has been experiencing consistent rainfall and hailstorms in various regions over the past 5-6 days. The Meteorological Department has issued a rainfall alert for 25 districts in the State.

There are fears that the next three days might continue to see strong winds, rain, and hail, potentially causing significant damage to farmers had earned-crops. Adding to the concerns, Patwari pointed out the damaged crops may fetch lower prices in the market and agriculture produce markets. Due to the adverse weather conditions, many farmers are forced to sell their crops at these markets. Moreover, several poor farmers lack proper facilities like tarpaulins to protect their produce from the rain. Patwari urged the State Government and the local administration in affected districts to ensure adequate measures for crop protection for farmers. He also called for expediting the procurement system to provide farmers with fair prices for their produce. The concerns are growing as unseasonal weather patterns continue to pose challenges in State, leaving farmers anxious about their livelihoods , Patwari stated.
