As part of measure to curb unauthorised entry at railway stations, Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Central Railway's Nagpur Division during last fiscal registered offence against 1,331 persons for trespassing. At the same time, the security force also realised penalty amounting to Rs 6,00,800 from the offenders. However, even after the proactive measures, 247 fatalities and 27 injuries were reported due to trespassing incidents. The action against trespassers is part of ongoing effort to ensure the safety of railway passengers and nearby communities. Apart from stringent action, the RPF at Nagpur Division has also launched a comprehensive trespassing awareness campaign. The RPF has identified areas prone to trespassing incidents within the Nagpur division, and against it they initiated targeted outreach activities. RPF staff are actively engaging with the public, distributing informative pamphlets to educate individuals about the dangers of trespassing on railway tracks and premises. Moreover, the RPF has extended its outreach efforts to local schools, conducting awareness sessions to instill safe railway practices among students from an early age.
 
Utilising the passenger announcement system at stations, delivering timely reminders about the hazards of trespassing, encouraging passengers to prioritise safety while navigating railway areas. Further, division has also taken-up construction of boundary walls at places notorious for trespassing and this initiative is going to help in plugging the gaps in security also. The construction of boundary walls, RUBs/ROBs, and FOBs are also being undertaken to further deter trespassing incidents. Often for purpose of shortcuts, travellers undertake hazardous methods of crossing the railway tracks and sometimes they met with tragic accidents. The Nagpur Division urged public to co-operate in adhering to railway safety guidelines and to report any suspicious activities or trespassing incidents immediately.
