Terming the manifesto of Congress as just a piece of paper, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The manifesto that Bharatiya Janata Party has prepared is Modi’s guarantee. Modi Government fulfilled all 75 promises it had made in the last manifesto in 2019. Congress did not fulfill the promises it had made in its manifesto in Rajasthan, Chhatt-isgarh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh where it had been in power.” Fadnavis was addressing mediapersons at Patrakar Club of Nagpur on Monday. Fadnavis stated, “The party had constituted a committee to prepare manifesto. We have not put anything in it on our own. The committee sought the opinion of people to which 15 lakh people sent suggestions. There were 4 lakh suggestions on Namo App. The committee went through those suggestions and then prepared manifesto. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it ‘Sankalp Patra’. It has thought of every component of the society, dignity of life, quality of life, employment, and quality and quantity of opportunities. We have dedicated ‘Sankalp Patra’ to people experiencing poverty, women, youth, and farmers.”

When it was brought to his notice that INDI Alliance and Congress alleged that BJP would change the Constitution, Fadnavis stated, “It is a false propaganda of the opposition. Modi always treated Constitution as the number one holy book. When he became Prime Minister, he paid his respects to Constitution. Modi had also said that a common man like him could become Prime Minister because of Constitution prepared by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Nobody can think of changing the Constitution.” Opposition is also expressing its apprehension that BJP would end democracy, to which Fadnavis said, “BJP, our constituent parties and especially Modi has always steered country in accordance with the Indian Constitution. Opposition is running the narrative that BJP is against the Constitution.

They are totally ignoring the development that Modi brought. But people have realised the fact. Secondly, democracy is an integral part of Indians. It is in everybody’s blood. How can it be removed or ended? It is Congress that tried to touch Constitution. Everybody knows what former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had done during the ‘Emergency’.” To a query, Fadnavis made it clear, “Congress should not speak on the rights of SC, ST, OBC or economically backward people. I question what it did during its 60 years of power. Modi’s rule established OBC Commission. During my tenure as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, the State set up separate OBC Ministry.”
