Congress has suffered a major setback in the Durg parliamentary constituency due to the Lok Sabha elections. Seema Baghel, sister-in-law of former CM Bhupesh Baghel, has joined hands with BJP during the nomination rally. She has joined BJP for Durg parliamentary seat. During this, senior leaders including CM Vishnu Deo Sai were present on the stage.

 

It may be noted that former CM Bhupesh Baghel and BJP MP Vijay Baghel have an uncle-nephew relationship. Although both are working in different parties and there has been a direct contest between Bhupesh Baghel and Vijay Baghel thrice in Patan. Where in 2008, Vijay Baghel defeated Bhupesh Baghel, But in 2023, BJP had expressed confidence in Vijay Baghel and fielded him for Patan constituency and was defeated from Bhupesh Baghel. This time the party has made him the Lok Sabha candidate from Durg parliamentary seat.
