RIYA Dohatre and Saurabh Tiwari emerged champions in the 10 kms women and men categories in the Run for Distinction Marathon organised by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, District Administration and SVEEP. The run was organised to increase voters turnout during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In the 10 kms women event, Riya claimed the top spot while Mithali Bhoyar finished second and Chaitali Borkar secured third position. Rita Tarare and Renu Siddhu finished fourth and fifth respectively. In the men’s section, Tiwari emerged winner. He was followed by Rajan Yadav who finished second and Rohit Patle claimed third spot. Sunny Fusade and Om Atram ended fourth and fifth in that order. In the 5 kms women category, Bhagyashree Mahalle won the race and Tripti Patil finished second while Tanmaya Pimpalkar secured third position. Sneha Joshi and Anjali Madavi finished fourth and fifth.
 
In men’s 5 kms, Bhavesh Khandar emerged winner while Gaurav Khodatkar finished second and Kunal Wagh third. Pranay Mahurle and Nagesh Katkhaye ended fourth and fifth. Earlier, the races were flagged off by District Collector and District Election Officer Dr Vipin Itankar. District SVEEP Nodal Officer and Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Soumya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Archit Chandak, Gorakhnath Bhamre, Harveer, Railways Officer Kashinath Patil, Rajeev Gaikwad, Deputy Commissioner Ranjana Lade, Milind Meshram, Prakash Warade, Assistant Commissioner Sarvashree, Mahesh Dhamecha, Harish Raut, Ganesh Rathore, Narendra Bawankar, Health Officer Dr Deepak Selokar, Additional Health Officer Dr Vijay Joshi, Dr Govardhan Navkhare, Shilpa Jichkar, NMC Sports Officer Dr Piyush Ambulkar, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, Sukeshani Telgote, Municipality Nuisance Detection Search squad Chief Veersen Tambe, Gurudas Raut, Jayant Duble and others were present along with citizens, government officers, employees and college students. The 10 kms and 5 kms runs were flagged off from Sitabuldi Fort gate while the 2 kms fun run was flagged off from Kasturchand Park. Dr Padmakar Charmode declared the winners. The programme was conducted by Manish Soni and RJ Amod.
