After an intense two-week campaign for Lok Sabha elections, candidates of various political parties took a sigh of relief, on Thursday. However, they remained anxious as their fate will be decided by the people, on Friday. Congress and BJP candidates personally met people by visiting door-to-door in their respective areas, on Thursday. They appealed to people to vote in their favour. Candidates of both the parties urged the public to give them a chance. In the afternoon, the candidates held meeting with senior party leaders to make strategy for the deployment of party workers at polling booths and voting centers, ensuring maximum voter turnout by mobilizing voters from their homes to the polling stations.

Party candidates sat with leaders to create a list of party workers who will be stationed at polling booths throughout the parliamentary constituency. Concerned workers were informed about their duties. Party workers also distributed voter slips to the public. Looking at the position of the parties in the Lok Sabha elections, it appears that once again, the main contest is between the BJP and Congress. No other party or candidate seems to have emerged as a significant player, leading to a triangular contest. Even after years of elections, no party has been able to establish a strong foothold apart from Congress and BJP. The situation sans a triangular contest. If one talk of candidates’ situation, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ashish Dubey is far ahead of Congress’ Dinesh Yadav. The reason behind this is that many Congress leaders do not support Yadav. Besides, Congress’ Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, former MLA Nilesh Awasthi, Ekta Thakur and other leaders have recently joined BJP. The competition here is mainly within the Congress organization itself.

While the biggest factor in favor of BJP candidate is that the party has well-defined leadership and beneficiary schemes. Therefore, it succeeds in filling political stability confidence in people. Anyways, the candidates have utilized their final day before the election to engage in campaigning personally and discussing preparations. They along with one of two party workers visited door to door and sought people’s support and blessings. They also appealed voters to exercise their right to franchise. The candidates, along with party leaders also carefully planned the deployment of party workers at polling booths. The candidates also visited temples to take blessings of the Almighty for their victory in Lok Sabha election.
