Mahavir Jayanti was celebrated with devotion and religious fervour in the city. Jainj community came together and celebrated the birth of Lord Mahavir with devotion across the city. Temples and Jain community centres were adorned with colourful decorations, flowers and lights. This day marked with the celebration for the charity and humanity. Jain community members donated clothes, gifts and foods among needy to mark the occasion. At various places procession was taken out where an idol of Lord Mahavir was placed on a beautifully decorated chariot and taken out in a grand procession through the streets. Devotees chanting prayers and hymns as they followed the chariot, expressing their devotion and seeking blessings of the deity. The procession was taken out in various places including TT Nagar, Roshanpura, Shahpura, Mangalwara Chowk and other places.
 
Jains believe in the principle of ‘Ahimsa’ or non-violence, which extends to compassion and service towards all living beings. Therefore, various blood donation camps were organised in the city. At Digambar Temple in Saket Nagar, blood donation camp was organised. To beat the heat, Jains distributed sharbat in the city. Mahavir Jayanti is an important religious festival for Jains, marking birth of Lord Mahavir, last Tirthankara and founder of Jainism. He was born as Vardhamana Mahavir in 6th century BCE in Vaishali, an ancient kingdom in present-day Bihar, India. Jains main philosophy is non-violence , humanity was clearly visible in the celebration.
