Dorairajan champions

All India Reporter (AIR) came from behind to upset Reshimbagh Gymkhana in the final of the MN Dorairajan (Multi-Day) Trophy 2023-24. On a pulsating final day, AIR chased down the 219-run target in their second innings in 44 overs, losing seven wickets to lift the trophy at VCA’s Kalamna Ground on Saturday. If Kaustubh Salve starred with the ball on the first two days of the three-day final, it was Siddhesh Kantode who stood tall with the bat when it mattered most. Kantode anchored AIR’s chase to perfection with a brilliant unbeaten 97 off 127 balls. His knock included 11 boundaries and three sixes. He got good support from Kshitiz Dahiya, who contributed 30.

There was some unease in the AIR camp when Pushpak Gujar was dismissed by Reshimbagh Gymkhana for a duck. It reduced AIR to 160-7, but Kantode and Mayank Jasore (19 not out) kept their cool and notched up the 59 runs required without being separated. Pravin Rokade was once again Reshimbagh’s best bowler, picking three wickets for 64, but his efforts were not enough. Kaustubh, who was instrumental in bringing AIR back in the match after having conceded a first innings lead of 108 runs, was declared the Player of the Match.
