In a tragic incident, a man and his son lost their lives while another sustained serious injuries when their car veered off the road and plunged into a river after hitting a roadside tree near Kalmeshwar during the early hours of Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Bhaiyaji Tale (65) and his son Ravindra Bhaiyaji Tale (33), both residents of Tondakhairi village. Rahul Domke (35), also from Tondakhairi, who managed to hold onto a tree branch along the riverbank, sustained critical injuries.

According to Kalmeshwar Police, Bhaiyyaji Tale had traveled to Kalmeshwar, on Friday, to witness the Rath Yatra procession. Concerned about his father’s late return, Ravindra, accompanied by his friend Rahul Domke, went to Kalmeshwar in a Hyundai Verna car (MH-43/AL-9591). After picking up Bhaiyyaji, they started return journey to their village late in the night. However, en route, Ravindra lost control on the car. The vehicle veered off the road, hit a roadside tree and plunged into the river near Govri village. Within seconds, the car submerged in the river resulting in drowning of Bhaiyyaji and Ravindra. Fortunately, Rahul managed to escape through the broken windshield and grabbed a tree branch. He remained on the tree throughout the night.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning when villagers found the wreckage. They rescued injured Rahul and informed Kalmeshwar Police. Police Inspector Yogesh Kamale, PSI Manoj Tiple, and their team, including Ankush Lakhe and Anis Sheikh, rushed to the scene. Efforts to retrieve the submerged car and recover the bodies commenced immediately. Ravindra and his father Bhaiyyaji were pronounced dead. Rahul is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital. Kalmeshwar Police have registered a case under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.
