SHAUNAK Badole won the Nagpur District 91st Weekend Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Nagpur District Chess Association at NDCA Hall, Sports Complex, Dhanwate National College, Congress Nagar on Sunday. In all, 57 players including 36 ELO rated players of various ages participated in this tournament. Total seven rounds were played. Total cash prizes of Rs 5,000 were distributed among top 10 players of the tournament. Badole in the seventh round match, playing with white pieces, defeated Sai Sharma on top board to emerge champion of the tournament. Badole won all his matches.
 
On the second board, Sahejveer Singh Maras, playing with black pieces, got better of Krishna Taori. Rashmika Maringanti was successful in registering victory against Shraddha Bajaj on the third board to finish in top ten. On board number four Swaraj Mishra, playing with white, suffered defeat against Kunal Wahane. While Ninad Meshram lost to Omprakash Soni on the fifth board. Maras and Rashmika both ended in top ten with six points each. While five players — Omprakash Soni, Mayank Hedau, Amitav Ramteke, Yuval Mohurle and Atharv Tawri ended with five points each. The prizes were distributed at the hands of FA Gayatri Panbude.
